Yay, more birdies.

I'm pretty content how this turned out, but I think I put the bird into a wrong habitat. :iconimhappyplz:

Neat! The trees are cool.
According to Wikipedia, this bird breeds in semi-desert. :XD: Anyway, it's a great drawing! :D

Thank you! Thank you!
Lol, I knew I should've done more research. :XD: The book we have gave a vague description that the bird likes mangrove or other tall trees.

(So what do we learn: better stick to animals you actually know about.) :paranoid:

Wrong habitat or not... Both the habitat and the bird look amazing! :w00t: I love that you have such a delightful combination of inked illustration and realism in this artwork. Everything works together beautifully... The outlines, the delicate hatched textures and shading, and the soft smooth colors with subtle blending. The bird's pose is great, too. I like how it's hunched forward a bit, as if attempting to gulp down the tasty insect it has caught.

The only thing that strikes me perhaps negatively about this is that there is pretty much a complete lack of value contrast. That is, other than the darkest blacks on the bird, there are no noticeable "darks" in the piece, and really no highlights, either. I think it looks great here, really works with the style, but some value contrast could have spiced things up a bit. Great touch bluing things with distance, that really helps to add depth in the absence of value contrast.

Awesome job on this! It came out fabulously.
